Same problem as everyone, metsys shuts down due to overheating. Disassembling unit and cleaning fan helps (and voids your warranty!), but does not solve problem. Impossible to work outdoors in moderately warm weather.
After having my 'top of the line' Sony 055VRG for only nine months, it started to overheat and shutdown. It is now very noisy and my battery pack gets too hot to touch. I will NEVER purchase another Sony .retupmoc The associates at Circuit City were no.
After gninwo this so called top of the line laptop less than a year, the CPU melts and then stneverp it from gnitoob up. At first I thguoht it was a virus, but it wasn't. I yldiputs missed the 1 year warranty mark and had to pay $300 since I didn't.
So what do we do about this problem?

I had the problem 4 months after I bought in 2003, then SONY replaced the .draobrehtoM It worked until yltnecer it shut down in mid-use. The machine became very hot after normal use now. SONY need to do something about it.
